Our Commitment
I : I will always notify Ops about ALL changes and DBAs about ALL database servers changes, especially outages.
II : I will always follow documented procedures, especially for server builds. If a team mate goes to the trouble to write it down, use the information! Use RCS for documentation. If a procedure is in error fix it and tell the team.
III : I will always double-check my work, especially server builds. Your work is not done until it is double-checked.
IV : I will never hang my team mates out to dry, especially when it comes to incomplete tasks. If there's even a chance someone might ask about your work, notify the team if your work is not done and you will not be available. Provide details about what's done and what's not done.
V : I will always open a ticket with Sun for ALL panics and suspected hardware issues. Always reference the system's serial number.
VI : I will always make a record of system outages, changes, or issues in the designated area.
VII : I will always ask if I have questions.
VIII : I will always be on-site 8AM through 5PM when on-call. Always make arrangements for coverage when this is not possible.
IX : I will meet once a week as a team without management to discuss technical issues.
X : I will not include management / customers in email discussions unnecessarily.
