Putty -Download http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ -Watch the Protocol used: either SSH or Telnet know what the server needs that you are connecting to. -Some possible selections: Connection -> SSH -> X11: check X11 forwarding to get X11 to pass through as the ssh port (if the VPN/firewall blocks X11, but you can ssh). Keyboard: when the del key doesnt delete toggle the Backspace Key button, then save as profile for that server **OR** change your profile erase char on unix (the putty change is suggested so long as the unix backspace is working fine). Colors inverse the background and foreground IF you want black letters and white background save as default. Also, I like to make the cursor color either bright red or bright green (helps my old eyes find it easier).
